A Glowing Ofsted Report for Kennett

Dear Parents/Carers of Kennett Primary School pupils,

I write to inform you of the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection.

The Inspector enjoyed talking to pupils who said they enjoyed coming to school.  Their enthusiasm and openness enhanced the Inspector’s view of the school.  As a result, I am very pleased to tell you that Kennett School has been judged good in all areas.

We are particularly proud that the inspector recognised “pupils of all abilities make good progress. Overall standards in reading, writing and mathematics are above average by the end of Year 6.”  In addition “the teaching of science was particularly strong and a firm favourite with pupils”.  Also, he noted that our pupils who have special needs are catered for and achieve well. The inspector felt that the Headteacher has made positive changes since her appointment, a year ago.

Mr. Read, the Ofsted Inspector, has highlighted some areas for improvement and some of the points raised are already being actioned in the School Development Plan.   We will, of course, now update the action plan to take account of the findings of the Inspection.

The areas that Ofsted inspects are: Leadership and Management; Behaviour and Safety; Safety of Pupils; Quality of Teaching; Achievement of pupils; Early Years Provision.  Ofsted defines a good school as one which is effective in delivering outcomes that provide well for all its pupils’ needs.  Pupils are well prepared for the next stage of their education, training or employment”.

This very pleasing result is down to the hard work and dedication of the Head and all staff.  I would like to thank them for all that they have done.  I would also like to thank our parents and pupils for their continued support as we continue on the journey to make Kennett a really great school in our community.

The Inspection Report will be available on the school website. If, however, you do not have access to a computer, a hard copy will be available from the School Office.  Please don’t hesitate to ask.

Yours sincerely

Christine Littlewood

Chair of Governors
