On the last Saturday of the summer holidays, at 8am, Miss Gregory arrived at school, in the hope that the school community would turn up to help her tidy up the children's playground.
Mrs Lowe was the early bird and started to sand down the train in the Spinney, shortly followed by Mrs Mountford and her husband, Mr Watson, Chloe and Mrs Taylor. New bark was laid and Mr Mountford began building our fence, using the wood kindly donated by Ridgeons.
We began painting the equipment, with paint donated by East Anglian Decorators, between cups of tea and biscuits. Mrs Watson arrived to help paint with her two children. Mrs Littlewood (Chair of Governors) helped sand down further equipment and then set off to get the workers some lunch.
Shortly after lunch, Mr Shipp came to help. He and Mr Watson built an outside stage for Aspen.
As the day drew to a close, Miss Gregory's partner David helped her to paint the picnic benches.
What a successful day! New fence, new stage, new bark and our outdoor equipment that looks good as new! A huge thank you to all who helped out and donated.
