Kennett Primary School Official Opening
Kennett Primary School proudly celebrated the official opening of its new school building on Monday 6 October 2025. The event was attended by key members of the construction team and representatives from the school and wider Trust communities. Four generations of the same family, who each attended the school across the years, had the honour of cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
Among those who attended was Mrs Pamela Joan Mason, who cut the ceremonial ribbon with her family. She reminisced about her time at the school: “The school holds a special place in my heart. I have many fond memories of Kennett School, as a pupil and then becoming a teaching assistant in later life. Seeing my great grandchildren now attending Kennett School fills me with great pride.”
Mrs Mason's great granddaughter, Ivy, shared her feelings as a current pupil attending the school: “I love our new school building; the best thing is having our very own school hall. I love the memories my family share with me about their own childhood experiences at Kennett Primary School and now I am making my very own.”
Mr Horsley, Headteacher, explained, “Today marked a significant milestone in our school’s proud history. As we gathered together, we celebrated not just the opening of a new building, but the continuation of a journey that began in 1865.”
The new school building benefits from eight bright and modern classrooms, a multi-functional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) space, a very impressive school field and a large school hall.
To further celebrate the milestone, pupils enjoyed a range of activities across the week, including the opening of the Millennium time capsule, and culminating in a community celebration of Kennett Primary School's past, present and future.
