Welcome to Key Stage One
In Team Nobel, love to learn!
Our learning aims to inspire, motivate and excite our children's imaginations.
We believe strongly that education is a precious gift and that it is important we give the children in our care the opportunity to enjoy their time with us whilst striving to be the best they can be. When the children leave our class, we hope to have given them a love and passion for learning which will stay with them their whole lives!
Please see spellings which are needed throughout KS1.
Focused spellings to learn are given on an individual basis (around 3-6 per week) and can be found in your child's personal reading record. These spellings are checked daily and weekly within lesson times and on an individual basis. Once spellings are embedded, they will be replaced with new words to learn. We do not 'test' spellings but rather 'check' as children can learn spellings for a test and then when writing will spell incorrectly. Initially, the spellings will relate to the most common words (high frequency words) and the key words needed to be spelt according to the National Curriculum.

When it comes to times tables, speed AND accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations.
Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help pupils master the times tables! All children in KS1 will be given a login to access this resource!
Here are extra resources which may support children also.

Every Child A Reader!
Each cohort will have a suite of core texts that will form the depth study for the academic year. These texts represent a promise from the school to every pupil that it serves of the literature that it is committed to studying throughout a pupil’s school journey. These texts have been mapped carefully to ensure a breadth of experiences, authors, texts and themes is addressed across the Primary years. In addition to these texts, there are core poems that each year group will study in depth. Other texts that will be studied in part will be outlined within the curriculum. This spine represents the core texts for depth study only.
